Maui 2016

Devan and I took a trip to Maui in March for some sunshine and relaxation. We had some awesome family agree to watch Nicole while we went, so we were able to be kid free for a week! We had a lot of fun, but of course missed Nicole so much, but it was nice to sleep in without being waken up by a baby :) We stayed in Kihei for the first part of the trip and enjoyed a condo right across the street from a beach that was great for snorkeling and hanging out. The condo had everything we needed for our beach excursions, including chairs, snorkel gear, coolers, etc. It was awesome!
No trip to Hawaii is complete without several trips for shave ice. I love it!

We took a day and went up to Haleakala, which is the highest mountain on Maui. We did a few short hikes, and saw some pretty incredible views up there from the top.

While we didn't make it to Haleakala for sunrise, we did stick around for sunset from the top. It was pretty incredible.

After our stay in Kihei, we drove the road to Hana and stayed in Hana for the night. The drive was great, though a little overrated. But could also have been because of the lack of rain in the state as of late, that it wasn't quite as beautiful as it normally is. One of my purposes in staying the night in Hana was to experience the 7 sacred pools, which are just past Hana town: however when we checked into our hostel, they said they were all dried up because it hadn't rained a significant amount in so long. Big bummer! We enjoyed the stops along the way, though, and hung out for a bit at the black sand beach.

We spend the second half of the trip in Ka'anapaali, in a nice condo up there. It was pretty windy while we were there, but we still enjoyed beach time, hanging out in the town there, ate more shave ice, and bought some souveniers.

We also got to check something off my bucket list...we finally went surfing! It was so much fun and I had a great time learning! We took some lessons from an awesome company. They did a great job teaching.

Don't mind my belly...I'm 16 weeks pregnant, here! You know, that awkward in between time where you just look pudgy?!

Such a fun and memorable week, and probably the last time we'll be kid free for a while-not that we'd have it any other way! Sure do love my Nicole and can't wait to meet her baby sister!
